John Restrepo, Principal – RCG Economics LLC

John Restrepo is the Principal of RCG Economics LLC. RCG is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was founded in 1997. It is the oldest and most established economic forecasting, real estate market research  and public policy issues firm in Nevada.

John has been providing regional economic forecasting and market research services for more than 32 years, 23 of those years from the firm’s home-base in Las Vegas. Prior to starting RCG, he was the Consulting Director the Las Vegas office of Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).

John has analyzed and forecasted regional economic, demographic and real estate market trends in a number of markets, including Nevada, Arizona, California, Texas and the Southeast U.S.

As an economist and advisor to state and local governments, educational organizations and the private sector, John has prepared numerous macroeconomic forecasts, demographic projections, real estate market research analyses, hospitality feasibility studies, tax revenue estimates, along with numerous economic impact and fiscal impact reports.

His clients include a broad range of the most prominent private and public organizations concerned with the interplay of economic, market and public policy issues, as well as the related issues of economic, growth, diversification and development.

John was:

• The 2008 President of the Southern Nevada chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Association
• Appointed by Governor Kenny Guinn in 1990 to chair the Governor’s “Task Force on Long-Term Financial Analysis & Planning”
• Chairman of the Nevada Economic Forum, 2008-2011. The Economic Forum produces two-year revenue forecasts for state’s general fund

Currently, he is:

• A member of the Nevada Mining Mining Oversight and Accountability Commission, appointed by Governor Brian Sandoval in 2011
• A board member of NAIOP-Southern Nevada
• A board member of the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce
• A member of the District Council of the Urban Land Institute-Las Vegas (ULI)
• An associate member of the Las Vegas chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR)
• The Chairman of the Advisory Committee to the UNLV Department of
  Economics

Additionally, since 1990, John has managed RCG Economics’ quarterly commercial (office, industrial and retail) real estate market databases, which are Nevada’s most established source of market info.

Through RCG, John also publishes the monthly Economic INsight newsletter, a leading publication covering economic trends in So. Nevada, Nevada and the U.S.

He and the staff of RCG also produce a series of ongoing macroeconomic and real estate market research reports on Southern Nevada on behalf of the City of Las Vegas.

John received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Louisiana.

He also holds a M.A. Latin American Studies/Economics from Louisiana State University.
