The latest air traffic stats for Southern Nevada are in. McCarran International Airport saw an roughly 20,000 more passengers in September than it did during the same month in 2016, an increase of 0.4 percent. Passenger volume is up 2.3% for the year to date.
International traffic is down 1.7% year-over-year in September, but still up a bit for the year. Is this just due to the high dollar, or are are other factors at play?
Of the top 5 domestic airlines at McCarran, 4 saw dips of a few percent in September compared to a year ago. Spirit, however, gained 20,000 additional passengers over September 2016, posting a 7.6% increase. Spirit also has the highest gain for the year to date at 5.6%, followed by 5.2% for United.
